Author Events for the Week of December 3: Action Movies, Drinks, China, and More!

Michael Mann, author of The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars: Dispatches from the Front Lines will be speaking on Tuesday December 4 at 5:00 pm at The Commonwealth Club: San Francisco.

Andrew Nathan and Andrew Scobell will be discussing their new book China’s Search for Security on three occasions this week in New York City: Wednesday, December 5 6:00 pm at the Columbia University Bookstore; Thursday, December 6 12:00 pm (noon) at the Weatherhead East Asian Institute; and later that day at 6:00 pm at the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations

Drink in Andrew Smith‘s Drinking History: Fifteen Turning Points in the Making of American Beverages. On Saturday, December 8 at 10:30 am at Downtown Central Library in Los Angeles, Andrew Smith will consider a variety of beverages from Coca-Cola to Kool-Aid in American life.

A fan of action movies? Harvey O’Brien discusses Action Movies: The Cinema of Striking Back at the Irish Film Institute in Dublin on Wednesday, December 5 at 4:00 pm.

Albena Azmanova will launch her book The Scandal of Reason: A Critical Theory of Political Judgment on Wednesday, December 5 at 3:00 pm at NYU Law.
